Muzzle Loading
This badge is a two-hour session. Shooting experience is highly recommended, and it is
requires a lot of time to qualify. Scouts should be at least a third year camper and have the strength and size to manage a 10 pound target rifle. As a means of determining this, the Scout should have a distance of at least 13 inches between the tip of his thumb and the top of his upper arm. Each session is limited to 16 Scouts.
Pistol Shooting
This is an option to the Ranger Award
Shooting Elective. Scouts must be a registered Venturer to participate in this
activity. There are no program fees for this activity.
Rifle Shooting
This is one option to the rifle merit badge. Scouts should be at least a second year camper to take this badge. There are not program fees for this badge. Scouts that already have the Muzzle Loading option to the rifle merit badge cannot earn a new badge.
Shotgun Shooting
This program will teach Scouts the basics of handling and shooting a shotgun as well as
safety precautions for firearms. They will have the chance to shoot skeet and trap as well
as practice to sharpen their skills. Scouts should be at least a third year camper to take this badge. There are no program fees for this badge.
