Slippery Falls Scout Ranch - The Aquatics Program

BSA Lifeguard
Scouts must be age 15 or older and should have earned lifesaving, swimming, and first aid merit badges, and need some rowing experience. Leaders are not required to have completed these badges, but need to have the proficiency required to do so.

Canoeing
This is a two-hour session. Good physical strength and stamina required. This is a good merit badge to introduce boating; it is more fun and less difficult than rowing. Bring long pants, belt, long-sleeved button down shirt, and shoes that can be gotten wet. It is recommended that the CPR instruction (requirement 2) be completed before camp.

Lifesaving
This is an advanced merit badge. Scouts should be a third year camper and a strong swimmer. Scouts need to bring long pants and a button up shirt. This merit badge is Eagle
Required.

Mile Swim
This is an award that Scouts and leaders can earn in their free time. There are four practices during the week leading up to the mile swim, scouts must attend all four.

Motorboating
This is a very popular badge and fills up faster than any other. Scouts need to bring shoes that can get wet.

Rowing
This is a two-hour session. Physical strength and stamina required. The skills are more difficult to master than in Canoeing. Bring long pants, belt, long-sleeved button down shirt, and shoes that can be gotten wet. It is highly recommended that CPR instruction (requirement 2) be completed prior to camp.

Small Boat Sailing
This is an advanced boating badge. Scouts should be at least a third year camper, and familiar with basic knots. Bring shoes that can get wet.

Swimming
This is a great merit badge for first year campers. Scouts need to be a strong swimmer to complete. Long pants and long sleeve button up shirt that can get wet are required. This merit badge is Eagle
Required

Swimming Instruction
This is for scouts that are not quite able to pass their swimmers test and would like to improve their swimming skills. This is not a merit badge.

BSA Snorkeling
This is a skill award, not a merit badge. The camp will provide equipment, but scouts may choose to bring their own.

BSA Kayaking
This is a skill award, not a merit badge. Scouts must be 14 or older to participate. Bring shoes that can get wet.
